Jun kept as still as she possibly could as she looked on; watching Carth thrash and frail his mangled body in the throws of pain. the small dragon had heard many things of the Muka breed over the years - having read a multitude of books upon the race. yet, with the knowledge she held, nothing could have prepared her for the sight she was witnessing; her heart aching for the male. "Oh Carth....." the tiny dragon whined, her pupils flexing uneasily as the muka took notice of her presence. Jun's body shuddered as the large beast began to drag itself towards the stable doors; Jun's large brown eyes widening as Carth drew closer. 'Holy shit! what am i supposed to do?!' Jun thought as her heart beat began to climb within her chest. the ground shuddered beneath the Muka's weight as he drew closer, Jun flinching as the demon gagged and purged the contents of his stomach. Jun's nostrils flared as smoke began to sift through the bottom of the closed stable doors- her brown eyes shifting to the wooden doors behind her before again looking to Carth. as the beast fell before her, Jun tensed- refusing to move from her place upon the ground; keeping the stable doors shut to both prevent both horses from bolting from the shed and crushing Astella and to keep the enraged berserker from looking upon his friends in his current state of mind. Jun shuddered as she looked upon the muka up close- the potent stench of burning wood causing her worry to escalate. Jun's ears flattened against her skull, her gaze regarding Carth's bloody image before her. 'I have to do something....' the dragon mused inwardly. 'This shed is burning fast and if i don't get Astella and the horses out of there, they will all die!' Jun's wide eyes flexed in thought, bracing herself against a strong gust of sandy wind. small pellets of sand hissing against the side of the burning stables and shed. Jun blinked, catching wind of Astella's naturally soothing scent within the wild winds of the desert. her large eyes shifted back towards the exhausted muka before her, her heart pounding within her flattened finned ears as she swallowed heavily. 'It's worth a shot.....'
The small blue dragon shifted her weight, lifting a small paw as she grasped a paw-full of sand. Jun brought the sand to her lips, uttering quietly within an ancient dialect lost to the current time; the sand within her clenched paw beginning to glow softly. Jun turned her brown eyes to the beast before her, frowning in concern. Jun extended her small paw as she released her clenched fistful of sand. The glowing speckles of desert glided easily upon the wind- spraying into the muka's wild eyes with an uncomfortable sting. the discomfort quickly passed, the sand fading away as it washed over the beasts frame- darkness beginning to consume the demon's eye sight. soon after, his other senses began to grow numb- muffling the sounds around him, whisping away the crushing pain that lingered upon the fringes of Carth's awareness. the small dragon regarded the muka for along moment, assuring herself that her magic had worked before slowly rising to her feet. she sighed shakily, stepping away from the doors as they swung heavily open; the wind tearing the doors open with a powerful, destructive force- releasing the potent scent of Astella's aura twisted with the choking stench of smoke.. Jun looked into the smoke-filled shed; the glow of the crackling flames beginning to swallow the shadows within. the dragon looked upon Astella's still frame before the wagon, regarding her mistress as she scampered to her side.
"Astella?" Jun cooed, tempting to shake Astella awake from her groggy state. the female stirred, opening her glassy eyes wearily. Astella's vision swayed heavily as her awareness temporarily returned to the present. the muffled sounds of the encroaching flames swirling within her mind as her massive hood hid her face. Astella weakly pushed herself to her knees, her arms shaking beneath the little bit of effort she exerted. The ground shuttered heavily beneath her as a burning beam crashed to the ground below in the stables near them; a torrent of smoke and ember billowing through the doors separating the two structures. Astella coughed weakly, lifting her blurry eyes as she looked past her hood; the swinging doors and hissing desert winds framing the ghastly sight before the female. Astella swayed slowly where she knelt, her distant eyes struggling to focus upon the horrifying scene in front of her.
“Wh-wha....what is that?” the female breathed wearily, fear and panic beginning to rise up within Astella's chest the longer she struggled to understand what she was seeing. Jun regarded this, frowning in concern as she looked up into Astella's face, noting a glowing light upon her mistress's cheek. Astella seemed to feel this, her glassy eyes shifting to the dragon before her as she again swayed weakly, lifting her hand to her right cheek as yet another strange marking appeared. “what...was that?” Astella mused weakly, her brow dotted with sweat as the sudden fever sank its root deep within the female's frame. Jun regarded her mistress closely, silently thanking whatever gods would listen that Astella didn't fully grasp the horrid sight before the shed doors due to her weary state. The small dragon smiled up at Astella, resting a paw upon the woman's knee before fluttering up to her shoulder.
“Lets not worry about that right now.” the dragon noted gently, Jun's eyes glowing dully as the dragon began to link energies with Astella, lending her mistress a tidbit of energy and strength. “Astella, get into the wagon. We can't stay here...” Jun suggested, remaining balanced upon Astella's shoulder as the weary female pulled herself up to her feet- using the wagon beside her to do so. Pol, as Astella pulled herself up, stretched his neck around the female; gently nudging her towards the bench behind him. The golden unicorn shifted his weight uneasily, his ears flicking back and forth between the burning building around them and the beast that lay before them both. His tail flicked back and forth anxiously, Aggripas nervous bantering causing the unicorn male to become uneasy. Astella breathed uneasily as she leaned against Pol's side; her legs shaking beneath her as she swayed sickly.
“W...where's...Carth....” Astella muttered, her green eyes hazed with fever as she continued to move herself along Pol's length, pausing before the step leading up to the wagon bench. “I....Can't leave...without him.....” the female continued, swallowing heavily as she struggled to pull herself up onto the wagon. Jun frowned, glancing back at the calming muka before the shed doors.
“He's coming, Astella. He promised....” the dragon retorted, giving Astella another small boost of energy- assisting the female in climbing onto the wagon before crawling into its sheltered back. Once inside, the female again collapsed, blacking out from exhaustion as her fever climbed. Jun grunted as she fell from Astella's shoulders, plopping upon the wooden floor of the wagon. The small dragon shook her head, her large brown eyes looking around to ensure nothing was broken in Astella's fall. Once she assured herself that her mistress would in fact be alright, jun returned her attention to the matter at hand. She trotted to the wagon bench, looking to the flames that began to scale the beams above them; Pol snorting loudly as he reared up lightly. The unicorn wanting to bolt from the flame dressed building yet the monstrosity before him prevented his escape from danger. Pol's horn glistening within the red light of the fire as his head bobbed up and down, pawing at the ground anxiously as the male lightly bared his fangs in warning.
