Astella continued to sit in silence, her eyes wearily regarding the courier as he seemed to slowly come around. She was rather surprised at how terrible of a morning person Carth was; having thought couriers were early to rise and late to rest in their travels. Everyone was different she supposed. Her tail curled around herself as her ears twitched, the male appearing to be bewildered at seeing her there. Her gaze meekly shyed from Carth's frame, catching sight of the terrible hurt within his eyes as he looked towards her. Astella's ears lowering as her heart tightened within her chest, a gust of wind rolling past them both as the fire continued to crackle before them both.
“I thought you weren't coming back...”
Astella's ears perked at this, her eyes shifting towards Carth as he continued to speak. Astella frowned sadly, her ears lowering once more as the female again looked to the male's chest- watching his pained reaction as he gingerly touched the bruising. The female bit her lip as Carth continued; sensing the deep torment that haunted her male companion as his watery eyes moved to a bottle near him. Astella tempted to speak as he fell silent, his words weighing heavily upon her mind as a strained sigh escaped past her lips. As Carth shifted, Astella's attention returned to him. Her ears perking upon her head curiously as she watched Carth struggle to grasp the second vodka bottle. As he fumbled with its lid, Astella struggled to fully understand what she was seeing. When it dawned on her what was inside the bottle, the female quickly moved to her knees. Astella drew closer to Carth, leaning over him as she tightly gripped the bottle within his fumbling hands. “Hey- HEY!” Astella snapped; furrowing her brows as she felt Carth resisting her. The female yanked the bottle from Carth's hands, tossing it out into the sands far from both of their reach. As she leaned back upon her knees, Astella bowed her head lightly. Her glossy black hair falling over her shoulders as her hands rested upon her knees. Her arms trembling lightly as her ears flattened upon her head. “I....I would never leave you, Carth.” Astella whispered as her tight throat struggled to silence her. Her guilt gripping her core. “I wouldn't just leave you like that...I'd never do something so cruel...” the female continued, her eyes meekly regarding her black nails upon her knees before her. Her guilty gaze wavering with tears. “I...I don't hate you...I could never hate you... you've done so much for me...I could never forgive myself if I abandoned you.....” Astella sniffled lightly, biting her lip as she meekly looked towards Carth once more, her tail curling tightly around her self. She looked to his chest for a long moment, her gaze falling sadly away as she again looked to her nails. She lifted a hand from her knee, regarding the glossy claws that tipped each of her fingers. She pressed a claw to her thumb, blinking gin thought before her ears perked as she suddenly pricked herself. Astella's pupils flexed in thought, watching a drop of blood bubble up from the wound before drooling down her finger and onto the warm sand around them. Astella's frown deepened, haunting memories swirling through her mind as she struggled to keep from falling back into the past.
“Carth....” Astella whispered softly, holding her now balled fist within her other hand as she kept her hands close to her chest. As though she feared she'd hurt Carth is she wasn't careful. “Carth I....I didn't mean to hurt you....” Astella continued, struggling to speak past the overwhelming regret that blanketed her frame. “I never wanted to hurt you, I swear. I...I don't know why I keep hurting people....” Astella trembled as another gust of wind swept past them both. The winds upon the desert again beginning to pick up as the sun continued to climb further and further into the sky above them. “My father was supposed to fix me....he was supposed to make me normal...but.....i ruined that too....” Astella closed her eyes as she struggled to retain her tears. The female feeling terrible for having harmed Carth. Her aura cautiously reaching towards Carth's presence as her guilt built within her. Struggling to offer its comfort yet not entirely trusting itself as Carth's own aura shrink away from her presence and touch. Digging Astella's heart deeper and deeper into her into her vicious cycle of self hatred. Astella sighed shakily, her emerald eyes again opening to the world as she failed to discourage her tears. Fat droplets of sadness slithering their way down Astella's cheeks. “I'm so sorry....Carth – for hurting you. I never want you to feel that I would abandon you. I made a promise. “ She paused as she smiled softly towards Carth, her wet eyes struggling to overcome the hatred for her own actions that boiled through her slender frame. “No matter what, I'll look out for you. Always.” Astella's smile grew, the female allowing herself to be swept away by fluttering memories from the previous night. “Besides...I don’t want to lose the things I like...” Astella again sighed shakily, wanting to be strong and be there for Carth in his current time of need. He was clearly shaken after her ruthless actions. The demoness now understanding the dangers of her rekindled powers. Her eyes shifted to the thrown bottle, frowning lightly before looking back towards Carth.
“I'm....I’m not going to let you touch what's left, Carth.” she noted softly. Her concern and worry for the courier evident within her tone as her aura continued to meekly offer its comfort. “You're not alone anymore. I promise to be here for you- I’ll never run away again.” Astella reached out with one of her hands, offering the male her pinky finger as she smiled kindly at Carth. “I'll never run away.”
Pol remained where he lay as Astella and Carth rose from their sleep. His golden eyes watching as Astella left his side and went to tend the hungover male. The unicorn huffed lightly, eventually hoisting himself to his feet as he shook his pelt free of loose sand and dirt. Pol casually drank from the oasis waters, his ears rotating calmly upon his head as he lifted his lips from the refreshing waters. The male looked back towards the fire- his ears pointing towards Astella as her pained voice caught his full attention. He watched the two for a long moment, relaxing several moments later as he decided Carth wasn't posing any harm to his upset mistress and that she in fact was just upset with guilt. The unicorn shifted his eyes to the pale of grain, his ears perking curiously as he moved to the bucket. He sniffed its contents with little interest, lifting his head as he looked to the other pale set aside for Agrippa. The unicorn pondered if the black steed had gotten anything better then him; his nose flaring curiously as he reached out towards the other pale- struggling to see what was inside without getting too close. With a huff, Pol again turned his attention to the pale before him. His tail swishing behind him in distaste as he begrudgingly nibbled upon the sweet grains offered to him. After a few moments of unenthusiastic eating, Pol lifted his head up, his ears erecting upon his head as he turned his attention towards the oasis entrance. The hollow wind moaned past the sandstone dunes, the male's vision only able to see a few feet into the sand storm before the shifting sands blinded his depth perception. The golden male's pelt twitched nervously, chewing uneasily upon his mouthful of grain as his eyes shifted between the entrance and the pale. After a moment, the unicorn again resumed eating- his ears continuing to remain pointed towards the opening between sandstone walls. Something causing the unicorn to become unsettled- though at this point Pol wasn't expressing immediate concern. Pol merely leery at this point; sensing something upon the ever stirring winds.
