Name: Kyrna Vorok
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
Race: Varanus, Forest
Hyarn Vorok- Father
Nel Vorok- Mother
Although a bit of a smartass at times, she generally means well. She tends to be a bit outgoing but only because she is striving to get further on with whatever it is they are doing. This tends to make her somewhat brash and blunt at times, but when she sets her eyes on something, she strikes for it. She doesn't let things impede her progress and always tries to find new ways to proceed in life, even if it may be unconventional. She also is a major flirt and loves to tease others, sometimes trying to use her charms to get what she wants.
Known as a wild-child throughout her youth, Kyrna was always out and about in exploration of the world around her. She had this slight itching in the back of her skull that always spoke to her whispers and dreams of the wide world and what it contained, what adventures she would have. And each day, she made sure to live those adventures in her mind's eye, letting it wash over her and renew her spirits each day, despite the struggles at home.
Although a respectable varanus, Kyrna's father Hyarn was struggling with his achievement in life, a project collaborated with his wife Nel who also was striving for an achievement as well. In their younger years, they decided together that they would try and figure out ways to improve the problems that the varanus mechs and robots would have, focusing on their mobility. After some time working, they fell in love, married, and had Kyrna, who turned out to have a rather impressive stone sense to her.
On one particular day, when Kyrna was about 10, she was walking around in some new territory for her at the bottom of a small cliff face. She had felt particularly adventurous that day and wanted to explore a little farther away from home. However, when she got there, she picked up that little bit of itching varanus feel when a particularly nice find of material was nearby. Though this one felt different, felt off, though she barely got a pinprick of it. Curious, she followed her mind's eye over towards the area it was at...
...the area being on the cliff face itself, rather far up too.
Knowing her destination now, Kyrna slapped her hands together, rubbed them a few times, and began climbing up and up, closing in on the interesting material. She could pick it up better now, starting to focus where it was under the dirt on the cliff face itself. Smiling, she eventually got to the patch of dirt covering the material and lashed out with a free claw, digging away at the cliff face. A glint of metal later, she gave a gasp of surprise, never seeing anything like it before.
That was the last thought she had before falling, the cliff face coming down with her in a shower of brown, black, and grey.
It was a week later that she awoke, barely there and giving out a rather loud grunt of discomfort. Rushing into her room, her parents were beside themselves with joy that their daughter had woken. They soon explained that the cliff face she had climbed had eroded heavily over the years and her digging caused it to crumble and avalanche down. And, with rather careful words, her father indicated to her left arm.
Or rather, lack there of. She stared in shock as she now noticed the fact that she had no left arm... not even a stump! Her entire left chest was covered in bandages and she cried, heavily and profusely for the next minutes, her parents trying to console her even though they felt her pain.
After, Kyrna wiped her tears and sniffled, questioning how they found her. They explained, with bitter words, that they didn't know about her accident. She had been quite far away and they didn't hear anything wrong as they were working. They told her that somebody had found her, patched her up somewhat, and left a note with a large nugget of metallic material. On the note was just the initials “Z.A.” Nobody saw whoever it was, but they had saved Kyrna's life.
With this sudden change in Kyrna's life, she became more reserved. She didn't leave the grounds of her house very much during her healing time and was rather morose and quiet. Her parents thought it might have been the shock, but they knew that she couldn't go on like this, not if she wanted to truly live. So, thinking of ways to help, they decided to try a new route with their studies. If they couldn't find a way to improve mechs and robots, why not their daughter?
It took months of research and development and a few tries to actually get something to work. They poured hours into their work, much more than before, and when nearing the end stages of their prototype, they announced what had kept them so busy for so long to Kyrna. At first, she didn't believe it. The next day, when she saw the prosthetic arm and was told about the small bit of surgery she would have to go under, she had only doubts. After another week, with the surgery a success and a docking station on her left shoulder now, she started to believe.
It was only when, after her arm attached itself to the docking station that she believed in it fully, crying once more, yet not only because she got her arm back. She cried because she felt as though a chunk of her life had suddenly ripped away from her once more. Her parents were confused at first, wondering why she was shouting out so much, trying to get the arm off of her. It was a confused state of about half an hour before they calmed down, Kyrna convincing them to keep the arm on.
In a hiccuping voice, she explained that she could no longer see the materials anymore. She no longer had the varanus trait to sense things in the stone.
After 9 long years, they found out many things. For one, they found that for one reason or another, Kyrna's arm, when attached, permanently shut off something in her body that let her sense materials in the earth. No matter what they did, they couldn't give it back to her. The other was that, with bits of magic crystals put into it in key places, she could function the arm almost are perfect as a regular one using the innate magic in all varanus.
Third was that after Kyrna obtained her arm back, she stopped her exploring and started to train, practicing with this new arm and suggesting a few modifications to it. The Elders, or rather her parents, whose achievement with their daughter's arm made of the greenish-hued Kyrnite, the metal she had found that day that her parents named, was a booming new field for the varanus to discover. This obviously won favor in the Commute and they immediately knew they would be the ones to be Elder, becoming the first duo to become Elders.
After about the ninth year of training and modifying her arms, she packed up her things one day, announcing she was leaving, going out to try and become stronger, get her achivement, and thank the mysterious “Z.A.” she been saved by. Her parents, hearing this come out of blue, were stunned for a moment at her resolve, but they knew it was going to happen to their adventurous-heart daughter one day. With sad farewells and some supplies, they bid her farewell as she began walking away, beginning her new life in the world once more.
Similar to most Forest Varanus, she is a leafy green color on her underside scales and a deeper green color mixed with some browns on the rest of her scales. She has a spinal ridge that is consistently low from midway on top of her head to about her waist area, slowly decreasing in size as it goes on. Her eyes are a soft dark blue color and although lithe, her body is somewhat curvy yet also toned, making her a bit thinner and smaller than what she actually is.
Her metal arm is a green hue and is, for the most part, of similar length and look as her other arm. The arm is mostly plated on the outside and less so on the inside for maintenance purposes. Even though similar in color to her skin, it still it flat colored and looks fairly out of place compared to her body.
Most often she is barefoot, similar to most varanus, and wears a thin hoodie-like brownish coat with a plain white t-shirt underneath it. She also wears rather scuffed up dark blue pants, ripped a little at the knees. With her she carries a greying backpack filled with foodstuffs, some money, a bunch of mechanic supplies, some oil and grease, a few extra crystals for her arm, and winter clothing.
Mechanic- due to helping out her parents on a constant basis when modifying her arm, she eventually picked up the basics and the advanced stuff on mechanical technology. Not exactly a prodigy, but she knows more than any human would.
Grappling Arm- her most useful tool, her mechanical arm is stronger than steel yet still light enough to swing with force. It give her about 1.5 times the strength of her other arm, but can give out if using her full potential with it. Inside the arm is a coil of steel rope and at will, Kyrna can have her clawed hand be used as a grappling hook or weapon with the roped being at one end, her claw on the other. There is about 50 feet of rope and the steel rope is very strong but not invincible. The claw, when shot, does not move afterwards and Kyrna must make the gesture she wants it to be done before its launched.
Shield Arm- The last part of her arm is that it also has a small shield function, flaring out the outer plating on it to about a foot on either or both sides of the arm. This shield isn't all encompassing, but it does block a good portion of Kyrna's body and can resist incredibly hot temperatures. The arm can also be used to stop other materials of course, including rain but the arm itself cannot get wet, as the mechanics in the arm will seize it up and she has to spend a lot of time trying to get it fixing again... which happens more often than she wants.
Charm- She has this relative charm to her that she tries to use and beguile (and sometimes romance) others around her. It's not that she has no shame, its that she is doing what she knows; surviving in any way possible, though thats also not to say she doesn't get a kick out of doing it!
